Weekend Respite Program

We encourage new respite participants to join an activity prior to a respite weekend to familiarize themselves with the staff and the environment. Alternatively, consider staying for one night (Saturday) before attending their first weekend.

Respite includes all meals, snacks and activities. We aim to provide at least 1 activity or outing on Saturday night (e.g. drive-inn, movies, archery, bowling etc) and an outing/activity on Sunday morning (if possible).

To facilitate mixed groups, there is at least one staff member awake overnight. We are able to provide respite for up to 6 youth. A minimum of 2 staff are on shift at all times, depending on the ratio needs of the participants.

We will work with you to facilitate participant’s cultural, religious, gender (binary/non binary) preferences or food requirements as much as possible.

We work hard to match our participants with staff and with other participants to create a harmonious and supportive respite relationship.

We prefer participants do not bring valuables or money with them and take no responsibility for them.

We recommend bringing your Companion Card and Go Card with you – this helps us to access a wider range of services and teaches our participants how to safely use public transfer.

Sometimes Support Workers are unwell, the weather is unpleasant, or a Covid-19 Lockdown occurs. If we have to cancel an event, we will let you know and offer you an alternative, if we can.
